Artificial Seawater

From Protists

1. Add 33.6g/L Ultramarine salts (or equivalent with Instant Ocean) to distilled H2O
2. Mix with a stir bar (not all of it will go into solution)
3. Put mixture into a carboy and let it settle for a couple of days
4. Pour off the top of the liquid for filtering and autoclaving step
5. Vacuum filter with a Whatman #1
6. Autoclave for 30min/0.5L of liquid/bottle
7. Allow seawater to cool and then it can be used for culturing/making other medias
