Contents

Birth and Early Life

Superman was born Kal-El to Jor-El and Mrs. El on the planet Krypton, 12 million light-years away. One day, Jor-El (Marlon Brando) learned that Krypton was about to explode. He put his son into a capsule and sent him off into space, where he conveniently landed on the planet Earth and was found my Jonathan and Mrs. Kent in Smallville, Kansas. Christened Clark Kent (the alter ego that would serve him his whole life), Superman began life as an ordinary small-town farm boy. Albeit with superpowers.

Superpowers

Since Superman is Kryptonian, he has a number of x-treme strengths and weaknesses. He has super strength and super speed. He can fly. He doesn't need to breathe air. He has heat and x-ray vision. He also has super breath. He uses these powers to save the earth and the city of Metropolis on a daily basis.

However, with his powers come one central disadvantage: Superman is vulnerable to kryptonite. Kryptonite is basically residue from the explosion of the planet Krypton. It comes in many varieties, such as red, blue, green, and yellow. They can drain Superman's strength, take away his powers, and even kill him. Superman has died on a number of occasions. He usually comes back somehow.

Friends and Enemies

Superman has relationships with beings both super and non, across the universe:

Clark Kent's recurring heartthrob, she's come this close to tying the knot with him. She's in love with Superman, but Clark can't reveal the truth to her. Hence, lots of tension.

  • Jimmy Olsen

Clark's assistant at the Daily Planet.

  • Perry White

Editor of the Daily Planet.

  • Lex Luthor

Superman's archnemesis, a rich, bald, white plutocrat who wants to either conquer, destroy, or own just about everything. He's killed Superman on a number of occasions, only to be frustrated when Superman comes roaring back to frustrate Lex's latest plan.

Close friend of Superman. They've worked together frequently. Whenever Batman can't handle what's going on in Gotham City alone, in comes his pal.

Trivia
