Statement re MTAS/MMC 2 march 07
From Mmc
2 March 2007
We are aware that there are currently many concerns about the implementation of Modernising Medical Careers and the associated national Medical Training Application Service (MTAS) process currently underway, with many physicians in training in the UK uncertain about their future.
We are extremely sympathetic to their plight and are gathering evidence, working with the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and with Postgraduate Deans and are looking at ways that the second round can best ensure that bright and committed young doctors have the best opportunity to obtain a training position for the future.
In the meantime, we are very grateful for the enormous commitment of so many consultants in this complex and time-consuming short listing and interview process that is stretching the service to its limits.
