Dear Colleague

As you will know, in March this year the Department of Health established a Review Group to provide recommendations on the best way forward for specialist recruitment for junior doctors this year.

Clearly this took place in difficult circumstances. It is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of the members of the Review Group that they found a way forward for the 2007 recruitment and selection process.

Today we are placing the Review Group’s final report, including a summary of its considerations and recommendations, on the Modernising Medical Careers website.

To many of those involved with this issue, much of the content of the report will be familiar. Nonetheless, it makes interesting reading and will be very important in our discussions and consultations for how best to provide specialist training for junior doctors in the future.

With best wishes

Yours sincerely

Martin Marshall
Deputy Chief Medical Officer
