Association of British Neurologists Trainees
From Mmc
ABNT Position Statement regarding MTAS
27th April 2007
- The MTAS application process is fatally flawed and not fit for purpose
- Competition to ST3 Neurology must be open and equal next year and in all subsequent years that applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to Neurology prior to MMC implementation are applying
- Positions must not be offered based upon interviews completed thus far
- Further selection must not use any remnant of the MTAS application process
- Job advertisement, application, and interview must be made at a deanery level
- Neurological training does not support a run through model from ST1, and trainees reject this as a valid proposal for our specialty.
The Association of British Neurologists Trainees remains committed to finding the best solution to the ongoing problems, and in the longer term, and continues to work with our professional representative body, and externally, to this end.
