Geography

Orecrest is a large island located in a bay east of Relforsia, west of Ajyendar, and south of Darodin and Lohrkand. The island is dominated by two huge twin peaks and features heavily forested foot hills. In the north, the forest dwindles, and the region appears more plain-like. Orecrest has a few major rivers, chiefly the Goldwater and Ironwater.

Government

Orecrest is a monarchy; their are 4 official noble houses: Linius, Oceron, Maskellian, and Raeis (each descended from former kings, though their close associates are considered to be members of their house as well) and 1 unofficial house: Quiliveth (which boasts no former kings, but merely a short-term Queen whose husband died early on the throne and was quickly replaced; they insist on being ranked as noble among the others). When a King dies, or is otherwise displaced from the throne, the new ruler is chosen by the leaders of Orecrest's various guilds (not just the guilds within Orecrest Proper)--in turn, many of those leaders first take votes among their members to determine which way they shall vote.

Towns and Cities

Orecrest Proper, often simply called "Orecrest," is the capitol of this country. It is built on four major levels: the Underfalls, the Mid- and Upper-Terraces, and the Royal Terrace. It also houses the entrance to one of Orecrest's most extensive mines.

Orecrest Former refers to the original capitol of Orecrest, which also shared the country's name in its day. Today the city is uninhabited, but its walls still defend a valuable lower mine entrance.

Raeisil is the seat of House Raeis and acts as the country's most productive port city thanks to its position at the mouth of the Goldwater.

Maren is a small town a bow's shot downriver from the gates of Orecrest Former. Founded over the ruins of some the cities old docks and warehouses, Maren offers a good base camp to those who would venture into the old Capitol and its mine.
