The Exalt’s blood runs cold, but they KNOW they can't run away. In the grip of it, all they can do is defend. They can only take a 5 foot back retreat, and even when someone they love is threatened, they are paralyzed.
Virtue: Valor
Condition: The Exalt realizes they are WAY over their head.
Effect: When in this state during combat, he can not do anything than defend himself and take five-foot step actions backwards, trying to get out.
Partial Effect: He still can't attack, but he can defend his intimacies.
