The Frog Gift

From Lavosbyssals

"I have something for you, butterfly."

Green eyes blinked, wide and startled, up at Smoke. Sarien was cute when he was surprised, but then, if truth had to be told, he was cute all the time (more then cute, really). Long eyelashes fluttered, as he spoke, dreamy voice soft and breathy, as it always was.

"For me~?" he sounded surprised, as if the concept of a gift for him was completely foreign. Smoke nodded.

"Yes, for you. Hold out your hands and close your eyes," he said, grinning, and tapped Sarien on his nose, as the redhead held out his cupped hands, before with a flourish, presenting what he had managed to acquire. It was a small, cute green frog plush, with button eyes, and he set it into the younger man's hands. It was a simple little thing-Sarien was a Dynast, he'd probably had much finer toys to play with as a small child-but it was cute, nonetheless. Sarien remained perfectly still, with his eyes closed.

"You can look now." Smoke said, teasingly, his voice low, and obediently, Sarien opened his eyes.

"Froggy~" he gasped, staring at the little plush like it was made of pure gold. Hesitantly, once it looked like Smoke wasn't going to take it away, he hugged it to him, small fragile hands like butterfly's wings against his chest.

"Do you like it?" Smoke lightly stroked Sarien's hair.

Sarien finally looked up from the froggy, and smiled. It was a small little smile, sweet and vague, but it was the most genuine smile that Smoke had ever seen him wear, something vaguely close to happiness.
