Help:How To Find Stories
From Jackcentric
Since we're new, there aren't many stories listed here yet. Be patient with us while we get up and running (and feel free to help). But once the stories are listed, here's how to find what you want to read!
[edit] What's New
The New Stories link in the sidebar will take you to a quick list of all new pages in the wiki. This will include art, vid, help, and all other pages, but most of them will be story listings. (New pages that appear highlighted in yellow have not yet been patrolled for quality by one of our wiki editors.)
Keep in mind that these are stories newly added to our directory; they may or may not be newly written and posted.
[edit] Browsing
If you're looking for a general type of story rather than something specific, or if you don't quite know what you're in the mood for, you can browse all our listings through the Browse stories link in the sidebar. This will take you to the top of our Fanworks Index and you can click links there to drill down through all of our possible categories. Some of the categories are pretty broad -- you can see a list of all the erotica stories, for instance, or all novellas, all stories with a particular pairing, all stories that go AU after "Exit Wounds." Other subcategories get much more specific: You can see a list of all stories related to a certain episode, all stories set in the 1960s, or all stories about Jack's first pregnancy, as examples. The Keywords category contains all the subcategories that don't specifically fit anywhere else, including common tropes like alien sex pollen, more Jack-specific tropes like coat!fic, and... pretty much anything else that someone thought to label.
At the top of each category page, you'll see a list of all subcategories in that category that you can use to drill down further. Below that, there will be a list of all individual stories (or other fanworks) that are in that category (not including any that are nested inside the subcategories). At the bottom of the page, there'll be a link to the parent category that you can use to move back up the tree.
The list of available subcategories will be constantly expanding and improving, so be sure to check back often!
