Production
Background
SummerBash is an annual pay-per-view that had previously been produced every August by WIW since 1999. Dubbed "The Biggest Party of the Summer," it is one of the promotion's original four pay-per-views (PPV), along with SuperBrawl, World War, and Soul Survivor, originally dubbed the "Big Four", and as of August 2021, it is considered one of the "Big Five", along with Money in the Bank. Out of the five, it is considered WIW's second biggest event of the year behind SuperBrawl. The 2022 event will the 25th event in the SummerBash chronology and will feature wrestlers from the Rage and ShowDown brands. Announced in October 2021, the 2022 event will be the very first SummerBash to not be held during the month of August. Instead, it is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Shopko Stadium in Helena, Montana. It will also be the first SummerBash to incorporate a new logo, replacing the previous SummerSlam logo that had been used for the past 12 years.
Storylines
The event will include matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by WIW's writers on the Rage and ShowDown brands, while storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage and Saturday Night Show, however since the pay-per-view event is on Saturday, ShowDown would be moved to Friday instead of it's original Saturday.
