Night of Champions (2014) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by IWE. It will take place on September 21, 2014 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. It will be the eighth event under the Night of Champions banner Night of Champions event.

The theme of the pay-per-view is that every current championship is defended on the card. This will be the first pay-per-view to feature the latest version of championship belts, which were introduced the night after SummerSlam, such as the new IWE logo on the IWE World Heavyweight Championship (while the Big Gold Belt was retired), whereas the other championship belts have minute modifications.

Battleground will feature professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on IWE's television programs. Wrestlers portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension, and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.

At SummerSlam, Rob Lesnar defeated Dustin Simpson to win the IWE World Heavyweight Championship. On the August 19 edition of Main Event, Triple K announced that Lesnar would defend the championship against Cena at Night of Champions.

On the August 25 edition of RAW, Cesaro became the #1 contender for the IWE United States Championship by defeating Rob Van Dam. On August 29, it was announced on IWE.com that Sheamus would defend the title against Cesaro at the event.

At SummerSlam, Dolph Ziggler defeated The Miz to win the IWE Intercontinental Championship. On the August 18 edition of RAW, The Miz defeated Ziggler by count-out in a rematch for the title. On the September 2 edition of Main Event, it was announced that Ziggler will defend the title against the Miz at the event.

At SummerSlam, Paige defeated AJ Lee to win the IWE Divas Championship. On September 1 edition of Raw, Kaila Matteson granted Nikki Bella a Divas Championship match at Night of Champions, but they were interrupted by AJ. On September 5, Stephanie announced that Paige will defend the title against AJ and Nikki in a Triple threat match at the event.

On the August 18 edition of RAW, Rusev and Lana were celebrating their win at SummerSlam, but were interrupted by Steven Larson. In the ensuing weeks, Rusev and Larson attacked each other, and each interfered in the others matches. On September 5, it was announced on IWE.com that Larson would face Rusev at the event.

On the August 18 episode of Raw, Gold and Stardust defeated The Usos in a non-title match. The following week, The Usos got counted out not allowing Goldust and Stardust to win the tag titles. They attacked The Usos after the match. On the September 1 episode of Raw, Goldust and Stardust attacked and injured Jey Usos's leg. It was announced at the September 5 episode of SmackDown that The Usos would defend the tag titles against Gold and Stardust at the event.

On the September 1 episode of Raw, Khris Jericho insulted Kevin Orton on his Highlight Reel show. On the September 8 episode of Raw, Orton attacked Jericho in the IWE trainer’s room while Jericho was being medically treated after losing to Bray Wyatt in a steel cage match. On September 9, it was announced on IWE.com that Jericho will face Orton at the event.

On the August 25 edition of Raw, Roman Reigns attacked Seth Rollins and Kane during Rollins's eulogy of Dean Ambrose and defeated Rollins and Kane by disqualification in a handicap match. On the September 8 edition of Raw, Rollins and Kane attacked Reigns during Reigns's match against Randy Orton. On September 9, it was announced on IWE.com that Reigns will face Rollins at the event. However, on September 20, after Reigns was rushed to the hospital, it was announced on IWE.com that Reigns has undergone emergency surgery for an incarcerated hernia and will not be medically cleared to compete against Seth Rollins at the event.
