King of the Ring (2012) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by GWF, which will take place on August 26, 2012 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. It will be the fourteenth annual King of the Ring.

Background
The main competition leading into King of the Ring is the King of the Ring tournament which is a yearly tournament held only the night of the King of the Ring event with sixteen participates will be in the tournament and the winner usually would get a GWF World Heavyweight Championship shot at the Global Warfare pay-per-view. There are currently no participates in the tournament as of yet. On Sunday August 11 on GWFWrestling.net the eight participates was announced with Randy Orton facing Snitsky in the first Quarterfinal match, Hollywood Hogan facing Chris Jericho in the second Quarterfinal match, CM Punk facing James Storm in the third Quarterfinal match, and Richie Steamboat facing GWF World Tag Team Champion Violent J in the final Quarterfinal match.
The main event match was a Championship Scramble match with the current World Heavyweight Champion Matt Murphy defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Buff Bagwell, John Cena, Scott Steiner, and Paul Burchill. On the August 13 episode of Raw Murphy successfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Steiner, after the match President McDermott announced that Matt Murphy would defend the World Heavyweight Championship in a Championship Scramble match against Buff Bagwell, John Cena, Scott Steiner, and Paul Burchill.
One of the main feuds for King of the Ring is for the GWF Intercontinental Championship with now current champion Jeff Hardy is set to defend his title against No. 1 Contender AJ Styles and former GWF Intercontinental Champion Triple H. Styles won a Fatal four way match on the August 1, 2012 addition of GWF Raw which gave him the No. 1 Contenders spot. Styles defeated former Intercontinental Champion's Hollywood Hogan, Jeff Hardy and Chris Jericho to win the No. 1 spot for the Intercontinental Championship. On August 6, 2012 episode of Monday Night Raw, Jeff Hardy defeated Triple H to win the Intercontinental Championship. On the August 13 episode of Raw, Triple H put his rematch clause up at King of the Ring making the Jeff Hardy vs. AJ Styles a Triple Threat match adding Triple H into the play.
