Production
Background
Since its creation in 1988 by Hall of Famer and current Rage Genral Manager Rex Martin, the World War has been an annual event held by WIW and is typically shown on pay-per-view (PPV). The event is highlighted by the World match, a battle royal whose participants enter at timed intervals. The Greatest World War will feature the largest version of the match, having a total of 50 male participants.
On March 21, 2018, WIW scheduled seven championship matches for the event: the WIW World Championship, Heavyweight Championship, International Championship, United Nations Championship, Rage World Tag Team Championship, ShowDown Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, and Dynamites Championship.
Storylines
The card will comprise ten matches that resulted from scripted storylines and had results predetermined by WIW on the Raw and ShowDown brands. Storylines were produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage, Thursday Night ShowDown, and the cruiserweight-exclusive Dynamites Live.

Greatest World War match participants
18 of the 50 entrants have been announced as of January 15, 2025.
