Slammiversary will feature professional wrestling matches that involve different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portray villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in the scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
On the May 8th Impact Wrestling broadcast, Eric Young and Bobby Roode agreed to have a remacth, but TNA Director of Operations MVP declined the match and promised World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young that he would reveal his opponent in the Main Event at June's Slammiversary epic event. MVP even announced it was someone Eric Young had never faced before. However, MVP shocked Eric and the wrestling world at the end of the broadcast when he revealed the opponent was him, and attacked him.
