The 2023 Fastlane is seventh Final Fight / Final Destination professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WIW. It will be held for wrestlers from the promotion's Rage and ShowDown brand divisions. The event will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the BrickBreeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman, Montana, and will be the first Fastlane held since 2021, subsequently making it the first to be held on a Saturday and in October.

The name of the event originally referred to its position on the "Road to Superbrawl", however, this was dropped for 2023 due to the event taking place six months after SuperBrawl XV. This will also be WIW's first major pay-per-view to be co-owned and co-controlled by the McAlmond family, following an agreement met by WIW and John Lehr to work together, which was finalized on September 13, with WIW subsequently merging with Montana Wrestling Alliance, both part of a new division of a new entity controlled by both the McAlmond and Lehr family with the McAlmond family having the most pull of the new division.

Background

Final Destination is a professional wrestling event first produced by WIW under the Rapid Fire name in 2015 (before being renamed Final Fight). It was held annually until 2019 when it was discontinued a first time but was reinstated in 2021 as Final Fight, but was again discontinued. On June 20, 2023, however, WIW announced the revival of the event, with the seventh Fastlane to take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the BrickBreeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman, Montana, and will feature wrestlers from the Rage and ShowDown brand divisions. This marks the first Fastlane held in October and on a Saturday. This will also be IWE's first pay-per-view (PPV) event held in Indianapolis since Clash of Champions in September 2016, which was at the same arena when it was formerly known as Worthington Fieldhouse (renamed in 2021). Tickets went on sale on July 14.

The name of the event was originally a reference to its position on the "Road to SuperBrawl", as Fastlane was held in the two-month period between the World War and WIW's flagship event. With Final Fights's revival for 2023, however, this theme was dropped due to the event taking place six months after SuperBrawl XV.

From January 2023, there had been speculation that WIW had been looking to gain more in a merger deal with MWA. Hours before SuperBrawl XV Night 2 began, a report via multiple sources that a deal between WIW and MWA, was imminent. The deal involved a merger of WIW with the MWA into a new publicly traded company, with the McAlmond company holding a 51% stake. The sale was confirmed the next day on April 3, 2023, with the sale finalized on September 14, with IWE and MWA merging together in a way. The 2023 newly rebranded Final Destination will in turn be WIW's first major pay-per-view event held in which the company was not souly owned and controlled by the McAlmond family, however WIW does hold more stakes in the new brand than MWA.

Storylines

The event will include matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by WIW's writers on the Rage and ShowDown brands, while storylines are produced on WIWE's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage and Friday Night ShowDown (due the PPV taking place on Saturday, ShowDown moves to Friday).
