Background
On October 25, 2021, WIW revealed its 2022 major event schedule for the Rage and ShowDown brands, with an event slotted for Labor Day Weekend at a to be determined location. On April 12, 2022, while the event's title was not revealed, WIW confirmed that the event would be held on September 3 at the Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York, marking the company's first major stadium event to be held in the New York. On April 29, 2022, during a WIW Live event at New Jersey's Red Bull Arena, WIW wrestler and NYC native and current holder of the original (unsactioned) WIW Heavyweight Championship, Martin McAlmond revealed the event's title as Clash in the Bronx, a reference to The Bronx, the place where the even will take place. The event will air on pay-per-view worldwide. In the first 24 hours after the event's initial announcement, it was reported that 59,000 people had pre-registered for tickets. This broke a company record, with more fans registering for pre-sale tickets than any other WIW event, including SuperBrawl. Tickets went on sale on May 20, with travel packages also available.
Storylines
The event will include matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray heroes, villains or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches, with results predetermined by WIW's writers on the Rage and ShowDown brands, while storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage and Saturday Night ShowDown.
