It was announced that on August 6, 2012 on RAW, Orton would team with former rival Jeff Hardy to face off in a Fatal four way Number one contenders match to the GWF Tag Team Championship, In a backstage interview Hardy and Orton would announce the name of the team, they said they would be known from now on as Apex Enigmas. Orton and Hardy would no longer be a tag team in 2013, Orton went on to win the Tag team championship with Edge
