Production
Background
Soul Survivor is an annual gimmick pay-per-view (PPV) event, produced every November by WIW since 1999. The second longest running pay-per-view event in history (behind WIW's SuperBrawl), it is one of the promotion's original four pay-per-views, along with SuperBrawl, World War, and SummerBash, dubbed the "Big Four". The event is traditionally characterized by having Soul Survivor matches, which are tag team elimination matches that typically features teams of four or five wrestlers against each other. Since WIW reintroduced the brand split in 2016, Soul Survivor has centered around competition between Rage and ShowDown for brand supremacy. The 2019 event had also featured WIW's former developmental territory NGW involved in the brand competition; however, NGW was removed from the competition with the 2020 event. The 2021 event will be the 34th event under the Soul Survivior chronology and is scheduled to occur on November 21, 2021, at the Capital High Arena in Helena, Montana
Since the 2017 event, the champions of Rage have faced their ShowDown counterparts in non-title matches. The 2021 Survivor Series is expected to feature Rage's World Champion against ShowDown's Heavyweight Champion, the Rage World Women's Championship against the ShowDown Heavyweight Women's Champion, Rage's United Nations Champion against ShowDown's International Champion, and the Rage World Tag Team Champions against the SmackDown's Heavyweightr Tag Team Champions.
Storylines
The event will include matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by WIW's writers on the Rage and ShowDown while storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, Wednesday Night Rage and Saturday Night ShowDown.
