Storylines

The card will featured matches that resulted from scripted storylines and had results predetermined by IWE on the Raw and SmackDown brands. Storylines were produced on IWE's weekly television shows, Monday Night Raw, SmackDown Live, and the cruiserweight-exclusive 205 Live.

As is tradition at this pay-per-view, there will be the eponymous ladder match, where the winner of this eight participant contest (with four wrestlers each from Raw and SmackDown) will win a contract (inside a green briefcase) for his choice of a IWE Championship or Universal Championship match at the time and place of their choosing within the next year. Qualifying matches were scheduled between Raw and SmackDown. On the May 7 episode of Raw, Raw General Manager Kurt Angle announced eight person Money in the Bank ladder match involving men from both Raw and SmackDown. Braun Strowman defeated Kevin Owens to qualify for the match. Later that night, Finn Bálor defeated Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn in a triple threat match to qualify for the match.

There will also be a women's Money in the Bank ladder match - again with eight participants evenly split between the brands - where the winner gets a contract (inside a white briefcase) for her choice of a Raw or SmackDown Women's Championship match at the time and place of their choosing within the next year. Qualifying matches were scheduled between Raw and SmackDown. On the May 7 episode of Raw, General Manager Kurt Angle announced eight person Money in the Bank ladder match involving women from both Raw and SmackDown. Ember Moon defeated Sasha Banks and Ruby Riott in a triple threat match to qualify for the match.
