Scream is an American slasher horror television series developed by Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie for MTV and is based on the slasher film series of the same name created by Kevin Williamson. The series premiered of June 30, 2015, following the airing of the second episode of the fifth season of Teen Wolf, to mixed reviews from critics, though it has slowly earned a strong fan base throughout its run.
As of October 18, 2016, 24 episodes of Scream have aired, concluding the second season. Following the airing of the second season finale, it was announced that a two-hour Halloween special would air on October 18, 2016. On October 14, 2016, MTV renewed the series for a third season to consist of six episodes, which will premiere in 2017.
