On the October 27 episode of ShowDown, Hunter fought Semmler to become the number one contender for the title, but Kooper McAlmond attacked Semmler causing Hunter to be disqualified. A rematch took place on the November 3 and Hunter successfully defeated Semmler, earning the number one contender's spot for the WIW Heavyweight Championship.
