Extreme Rules (2016) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by IWE. It will take place on May 22, 2016 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. It was originally scheduled on May 1 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, but switched places with Payback. It will be the eighth event under the Extreme Rules chronology.

Extreme Rules will consist of professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds or storylines that play out on IWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
At Payback, AJ Styles faced Roman Reigns for the [IWE World Heavyweight Championship]]. Styles defeated Reigns first by countout and later by disqualification but since such a win could not result in a title change, the match was restarted by Shane Matteson and Kaila Mattson respectively before Reigns finally scored a pinfall over Styles.
