The 2014 Detroit Lions season will be the franchise's upcoming 85th season in the National Football League, their 81st as the Detroit Lions and the first under new head coach Jim Caldwell. The Lions also suffered the loss of long-time owner William Clay Ford, Sr., who died on March 9 at the age of 88.
