Background
Night of Champions will feature professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing feuds, plots, and storylines that played out on WIW's primary television programs. Wrestlers portrayed villains or heroes as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.
The first match announced for Clash of Champions was World Heavyweight Champion Martin McAlmond defending the World Heavyweight Championship against No. 1 Contender David Mahrt. Mahrt won a 10-Man Royal Rumble match on the August 25 episode of Turbo where he last eliminated Charlie Lynch with help from Dax Hoovestal. Mahrt would loss a match against WIW Champion Kevin McAlmond leading into his title match with martin McAlmond at Clash of Champions.
