Named After: Named after the Hindu destruction Goddess
Relative Size: .7 Earths
Satellites: 3 Moons

A barren planet in the Brahman system, Kali features a dark atmosphere and craggy ground with a hue like that of dried blood. The dark, blood red soil floats on sharp rocks, revealing a heavy series of deep red spires. The mass of the planet is greater than Earth's, but smaller in size, so heavy gravity is an issue. It is seeded with heavy elements.

History

A massive asteroid struck the planet's surface some time ago, revealing a massive subterranean level of coal. The coal strip is just shy of two thousand miles long, with perhaps many more miles hidden underneath the undisturbed surface. Kali is small, and supports only a thin atmosphere of mostly carbon-monoxide, which was exuded en masse when the meteor impact revealed and burned mass amounts of underground coal.

Meaning of the Name

Kali (Sanskrit: काली) is a goddess with a long and complex history in Hinduism. Her earliest history as a figure of annihilation still has some influence, while more complex Tantric beliefs sometimes extend her role so far as to be the Ultimate Reality and Source of Being. Finally, the comparatively recent devotional movement largely conceives of Kali as a straightforwardly benevolent mother-goddess. Therefore, as well her association with the deva Shiva, Kali is associated with many devis, like Tara.
