Sweet Rain Sanitation Corps

From Flight From Darkness

The Sanitation Corps is a small and relatively tight-knit group. They're not hugely popular, but without their hard work the Dream would be slowly overcome by corruption and disease. They occupy the inner parts of Black Plate, and they can occasionally be seen throughout the ship engaged in vital repairs not glamorous enough for the tech corps: tightening leaky sewage pipes, replacing air filters, testing water quality, and the like. The Sanitation Corps is officially in charge of ensuring the safety and cleanliness not only of the air and water, but of the food grown aboard the Dream, and they regularly inspect the produce, soil, and water of Green Plate to ensure that tainted food isn't shared with the general populace. [edit] Insignia, Uniform, Talismans, Protective and typical equipment

A member of Sanitation Corps wears a simple and utilitarian uniform of black and grey, and wears a synthetic toolbelt, filled with useful items. On the job, most also carry a metal toolbox filled with heavy wrenches and the like.

The insignia of Sanitation Corps is a simple droplet of water, in white, on a black field. The Sanitation Corps isn't a particularly militaristic organization, and feels little need for rank due to its small size. Instead, there are several dozen Sanitation Inspectors (each with their own hand-picked team of Sanitation Engineers), who are sent on repair or analysis jobs throughout the ship alone or in small groups. These men don't outrank one another, and they all fill out work reports and answer to Ravimot, the Chief of Sanitation. They are given modest bonuses based on the quantity and quality of their work, but it's not a job that offers much chance of promotion (though Engineers can hope to make Inspector one day, vacancies don't open very often).

The Sanitation Corps provides its members with comprehensive medical care, and due to the risky nature of their work they are required to have weekly checkups in the Medbay, which means that the Sanitation Corps has many contacts with the Medical Corps, and the two organizations often work together on public health and safety projects. somewhere, and you never know when you might need one. Members of the Sanitation Corps are encouraged to purchase talismans to protect them from disease and infection, but they are not provided by the Corps, which is already trying to do too much with limited manpower and a limited budget.
