Delenn's explanation of them to Sheridan when she reveals what they are should be is the real crux of this. "There are races in the universe, billions of years older than any of ours," she says. "They used to walk like giants among the stars...". Its at the end of episode one of season 3 of B5. You may want to transcribe it, because the end as it fades out is important.
