[edit] Before Creation
There is a plane of existence outside of our own - called Astra - it is occupied by beings that exist outside of our concept of time, and our space, thus these beings were not "born" as we understand it, and do not "die". They are eternal, and extremely advanced. We do not know the nature of these beings, only that they have some form of conscious mind.
We are only aware of two beings specifically - though it is certain there are more. The two we are aware of are collectively known as "The Creators", as they are responsible for working together to create our universe, and everything in it - though, given the differing natures of them, it would be more appropriate to name Adon (Greek for Master) as "Creator" and Addonex (Latin for Bringer of Death) as "Annihilator".
The beings of Astra wished to create a new plane of existence - a new universe. They differed however, on how to create such a universe - whether it should represent a state of pure and perfect order, or of total chaos. There seemed no clear consensus among the beings, thus a compromise was struck. It was decided that two of the beings would actively create the universe, with elements of each order and chaos. Things that possessed life, would die. Cosmic bodies would form, and would be destroyed, then be reborn again. A symmetry of order and chaos, life and death, creation and destruction would be crafted, bringing in the best elements of both manifest into a universe.
[edit] The Creation of the Universe
Two beings were selected to be the active creators of this universe. Adon, being the most powerful advocate of an ordered, harmonious universe and Addonex, an equally powerful advocate of chaos. Adon believed in the compromise agreement - feeling that in a strange way, the balance of light and dark, life and death, creation and destruction presented the order he craved. Addonex, however did not believe in the compromise and desired total chaos.
As the universe was created, both beings channeled their energies in opposing directions, creating a two way current of power, which they used to drive the creation of the universe. The universe sprung up from the area between the two currents, being driven and sustained by the flows of energy flowing through it. The influence of each Adon and Addonex was in balance, with Adon providing the order, and Addonex the chaos. Everything was harmonious in the beginning.

[edit] Creation of the Races
Each race was created with both flows of energy, thus there is a dichotomy in all of us between order and chaos. This is why we are able to access both flows, and why some choose to walk one side, and others the other.
The reason the sentient races were created was to give some concious influence over the physical world. The beings of the void wished for the beings they created to grow, learn develop, expand their minds, grow in intelligence, understand and use more of the current, until such a time when their species began to transcend the physical universe, becoming one with the current, and using it to leave the bounds of the universe and join the beings of the void - thus being united with their creations.

[edit] The Gift of the Races
The gods bestowed a gift upon each race (either all races of man as WELL as the other races... or men as a whole, and the other races).
An amalgom of the rings of power in the LOTR... the Pearls from legend of Zelda... whatever... some kind of mysterious and supernatural worldly object that is of great importance and power that is specific to each race... targetted to each one.
(Perhaps an interesting story involving the 8 gifts to men, and how as the races conglomerated and the world was being destroyed, each object was lost...
our hero may possibly search for these things, as a matter of quest. Perhaps all of them together may allow for something to happen - perhaps even something that ties in with the removal of the sword that binds the destroyer)
EXPLORE THIS CONCEPT!!!
[edit] Addonex's betrayal
Desiring a world of chaos, but not being willing to challenge Adon direcly, Adoonex secretly channeled his power into his own Avatar. More or less creating a personified vehicle of chaos, this being would have complete access to the current (much more than the restricted access they have given all other races) He would be the vehicle Addonex used to exert his desire for chaos... a human form. Unfortunately for Addonex, Adon felt the change in harmony, and in his desire to protect the harmony did the exact same, creating a human avatar to match him (doesn't have to be perfectly equal, but perhaps make it balanced and identical... think about it). Fight for control on earth ensues... blah blah blah.
Now, something here has to allow for the RE-emergence of these avatars... perhaps a genetic factor... recessive genes, or perhaps something else, but don't make it lame like "when the world is in need" or something stupid. It has to be interesting. Perhaps a block is put on the gifts of men so that the gods can not use them for pawns in their personal conflict... and perhaps a way to lift that block is found, which leads to the re-emergence of both avatars... THIS MIGHT BE INTERESTING.
Author notes: We can go a lot of directions with this, and its more or less the foundation of the story. We can go the "divine twins" route - where a set of identical twins is born, one turns out to be the hero, one the villain. That would likely remove the concept of Fisc (hero) being born of the mountain people, being cast out for being sickly and small and left to die on the mountain - but none the less represents an interesting concept. Perhaps a set of FRATERNAL twins, rather than identical... thus, perhaps one twin is larger, more powerful, strong, while the other apparently suffered from his brothers growth, and was sickly, making Fisc abandoned and his twin kept, hailed perhaps as the future king. In this scenerio, make Fisc the elder, so he (sometime far down the line, in the 3rd trilogy) can find a way to ascend to Kingship - possiibly high king of all humans eventually. A third idea would be to have them completely seperate - being born at different places. This would free me up to develop them seperately, but would remove the interesting "relation" aspect of a story of two at odds.

[edit] Creation of the Universe
In the struggle between the creator and the destroyer, an agreement was made. A universe would be crafted that would expand its creation for a set amount of time, and then would slowly collapse on itself and destroy everything in it. (big bang - big crunch)
After the universe was created, nothing could be created, nothing could be annihlated completely - all matter that was in the universe originally would stay there.
The battles between the creator and the destroyer were to be played out in the universe - as the universe was being crafted, the creator agreed (due to the agreedment with the destroyer) to balance his creation with an opposing force that would be crafted by the destroyer, thus opposing the perfection the creator intended to make with horrors designed by the destroyer. Thier war would be played out by the universe.
The creator, in his infinate fairness and wisdom gave his creations inherant natures, but at the same time, free will, thus allowing whatever side was more righteous to eventually win. In that first universe, "good" prevailed.
Because of that, each time the universe expands, then contract, it re-expands, and given that all matter in the universe remains, reconstituting what was once there. Worlds are re-created, living creaters come back, and people live lives again, with subltle differences.
The idea of fate relates to the fact that given nearly identical circumstances, everything tends to happen as it once had before, unavoidably. The only thing that could change that cycle of repetition is somehow getting interfeared with - perhaps by a being outside the universe (which was agreed not to happen).
As things repeat themselves, the destroyers creations are defeated in each universe. He begins to break the agreement with the creator, and attempt to interfere with the universe.
[edit] Second Universe
The Creator formed yet another universe, unknown to the destroyer - it was shielded from him. Inside was only perfection and happiness, the perfect paradise.
Its existance is a closely guarded secret unknown only to the creator.
Explore the possibility that a society from this universe visits the "known" conflicted universe.
-possibly to balance out interfearance from the destroyer -possibly to tip the balance of power in their favor in the last days -possibly to teach the members of the "known universe" things
Also explore the idea of a "negative dimension", which is the origin of all destructive forces, evil, etc... (kinda like Warcraft)
