Owls Are primarily attracted to movie theaters, illiteracy group meetings (which they view as a walking buffet), bizzarre evil reality warping games, and the hair of Hedge the Lesser Chimera.
They have been known to hold up signs signifying the end of an act in webcomics.
In the mayhem game Goonmanji, they eat anyone who misses two consecutive turns.

Owls are part of the schoolmunist propoganda machine. The idea is to keep students literate for as long as possible, threatening them with a future career as owl excrement if they give up on reading... is actually highly effective, come to think of it.
