Women who are sexually attracted to other women. In a manner nonsensical from a practical point of view, lesbians are especially attractive to most heterosexual men, who claim that they are even better than waffles.

The name is believed to come from the isle of Lesbos, now known as Mytilene, due to surviving writings by a poet named Sappho who wrote about love for her students at a school for girls there. Consequentially, the term Sapphism has been used as a synonym, though that useage has mostly died out in recent times.

Famous lesbians include Ellen DeGeneres, Kaorin from Azumanga Daioh, Nanase, Ellen (although Ellen is technically bisexual), the female version of Ranma, and Britney Spears.
