What is known is that he is something of a temporal tourist; he visits important moments in history, just to watch, often bringing other ponies along for the ride. On one such journey, he took Derpy Hooves along to witness the Elements of Harmony defeating Nightmare Moon. Unfortunately a mishap with the landing caused Nightmare Moon to escape with the TARDIS, and Celestia was never returned resulting in one hundred years of night.
