Six-Toed Grey Heron

The Six-Toed Grey Heron (Ardea sextdaktylos) is probably one of the most unique species of birds.

Description
- Height: 40" tall
- Length: 50" long
- Wingspan: 145" (12.08 feet) long
- Weight: 8 lbs. or more
Its huge wings allows it to glide over the vast rivers. It is unusual because its the only bird ever to live that has six toes. Despite looking like a hybrid between several birds, it's not.
Breeding colours
- Upper mandible: Black
- Lower mandible: Yellow but may be black
- Face: Bluish grey, some may have a yellow mask
- Head: Bluish grey
- Wings: Orangey-yellow
- Feet: Black but may be any colour, depending on the subspecies
- Legs: Same as above
During the breeding season it has black plumes on its chin, back of the neck and breast.
- NOTE: Females are duller than males.
Nonbreeding colours
Pretty much the same, but duller and lacks black plumes.
