Realm Collapse

From Demiurge Games

The Realm Collapse occurred when the realm was unable to maintain cohesion due to various factors playing against the malleability of the planescape.

Forged from the elsewhere by the four mages that would become the Northern Oracle, Eastern Oracle, Southern Oracle, and Western Oracle, CrossRealms had always existed as a amorphic plane located beyond the known limits of all other planes, explained in layman's terms as "beyond the fog." The four minds of the mages had fashioned the realmspace and acted as anchors for its stability. With the influx of minds upon the plane due to the opening of the IRS, the founding of the Godai Kingdom, and the creation of the Laque Lands as a rival nation, the plane became unstable from all the extra minds playing on its borders. The deaths of the Northern and Southern Oracles in the Polar War severely taxed the realm and it attempted to save itself.

The plane had implemented measures to stabilize itself, displacing people such as Yusaku, Raye, and Luke through time and scavenging lost buildings and monuments to act as Anchors. The Mage Towers of the Godai Royal Academy of Magic, the Dragon God Shrine, and the World Tree were all anchors stolen from their respective realities and brought to CrossRealms. The floating island was pulled into phase with the realm due to the other activities, and the slow unravelling of reality was found by the Explorer's Society, specifically Ryan Danielson, Travis Montgomery, and Spencer P. Freemont.

Unfortunately the findings came too late, and the anchors were a band-aid put on a large ulcerated wound. The realm's ability to maintain itself broke when the Orc warmongers arrived through their transplanar gates to overrun the plane. The Godai Kingdom and the Laque Lands barely evacuated everyone before the planes collapse, the Orcs died with the planar destruction, and only thee landmasses remained, the IRS and the small land surrounding it, a small bubble of water in what was once the Eastern Sea, and the cottage of the Western Oracle. The lost anchors were transformed into small symbolic items that floated freely in the void.

The Western Oracle, with the aide of Ryan and Travis began works to stabilize the realm and rebuild it. Yusaku had been working unknowingly parallel to their efforts, and had awakened the Dragon God Shrine. Between the efforts of both parties CrossRealms was reborn, with the Godai Kingdom now the center of the realm, and thanks to the Oracle and the two Explorer's Society members, stable and no longer reachable by accident. The planar wall had been solidified, and the Realmsphere was complete. No longer merely an amalgamation of other realms, it now was one of its own, though the will and drive to expand itself by absconding with other realms anchors still manifests itself occasionally.
