Dewei
From Demiurge Games
Hobo was born Sean Fredrick Morgan in Houston, Texas, to a very Caucasian father and a very Mexican mother. Due to personal problems, his mother left soon after birth, leaving his very status oriented father living in a small southern town with a brown baby. This caused problems, and Sean left home with nothing but a backpack full of clothes and his guitar as soon as he graduated high school. He soon learned that life on the streets was not all fun and games. and went through harrowing things to survive.
Eventually, he found his way to the forested mountains of New Mexico, where he happened upon what he first thought was nothing more than a back to nature revival group. They allowed him to live with them, and taught him how to survive in nature in exchange for agreeing to do his part in the community. After a time, he learned these people weren't simply old religion revivalists who decided to live in. The spirits they claimed to speak to were real , and they were part of an old tradition that kept the land for their spiritual "mother". Their teachings began to ring true to him, and he began undertaking the lessons to truly become one of them.
He dropped his given name as he began his learning, wishing to leave his past behind him. It's tradition that a Druid earn a name through their deeds (though not usually in replacement of their given names). For now, he goes by the moniker "Hobo", based on the fact that he is in the traveling part of his learning, where he must travel throughout the world and experience what it has to offer in order to tell the world's tales.
Since arriving to Chinatown, he has experienced massive culture shock, which has caused as many good things as problems. He accidentally broke the seal on the Book of Silver and Jade, releasing several powerful spirits. However, several of these have been redeemed as a direct result of his actions. One of which has become his ward, and has named him "Dewei" on account of his actions to redeem her. He occasionally uses the name during social interactions.
Since then he's saved 2 dragons, trapped 4 demons, and gone on a naming quest and been given the name Dewei Hok, or Noble Badger, as his official name.
Paradigm: Hobo believes that everything is Gaia, the earth itself is her body. The spirits are her children, and care for the spiritual planes (or Otherworld). Humans are her creations, and commanded to care for her physical body (the Earth). Druids are specifically like an honored servant, given special powers and privileges above and beyond the normal servants in order to do their job. These powers are specifically the ability to command the spirits in any way that the Druid deems necessary in order to fulfill their obligation to protect the Mother Gaia. Spirits are not forced to listen, but they will more often than not because of tradition and obligation.
Description: Hobo stands at six feet tall, six one with the steel-toed work boots he generally wears. His clothing style befits his name, tattered jeans and t-shirts (Unless Vivian, his Demonic ward, has decided to use him to play dress up), and he will generally wear a tattered leather duster. He has light brown skin, slightly dusty looking due to his Mexican heritage. His hair is black, and reaches down to his shoulder blades. His eyes are dark brown, except his right one which is white with blindness and surrounded by scars as if a small animal had attempted to claw it out. He is broad shouldered and a touch stocky, though it easily becomes visible that it is mostly muscle.
