  • 30th - Farthing Downs: 1 juvenile buzzard in adjacent trees. Flock of carrion crows and jackdaws in an adjacent field numbering 130 birds. 2 bullfinches, 13-strong flock of linnets. Goldfinches on thistles (9). Sparrowhawk overhead. 1 great spotted woodpecker, and one green. 1 blackcap, 1 whitethroat, lots of juvenile chiffchaffs calling. 3 yellowhammers and the usual tits/finches. (David Hayes)
  • 29th - Farthing Downs: 1 wheatear, by far my earliest Autumn observation on this site. (David Hayes)

  • 27th - South Norwood Lake: 09:00-10:45hrs, pair Muye Swan, Great Crested Grebe (on nest) 1 Black-headed Gull, 2 Cormorant, c15 Tufted Duck (+ 1f with brood of 6) 1m Sparrowhawk, c20 Common Swift, 3 Nuthatch, 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Willow Warbler, 4 Chiffchaff, C20 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Coal Tit, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, 1 Stock Dove, (John Watson & Gavin Hawgood)
  • 26th - South Norwood Lake (10am): 2 Common Terns, briefly, then flew off SW (?) (Gavin Hawgood)
  • 26th - New Addington (fields behind Vulcan Way): 1 Buzzard, 2+ Kestrels, 20+ Stock Doves, 2 Linnets, 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Green Woodpecker. (JB)
  • 25th - Happy Valley: 2-3pm 4 Buzzard,2 Yellowhammer,4 Linnet,5 Woodpigeon,4 Carrion Crow,1 Jay,4 Magpie,1 Dunnock,(D.W)
  • 24th - Foxley Wood: 1 Treecreeper,5 Wren,2 Magpie.(D.W)
  • 24th - Farthing Downs: Whitethroats, blackcaps, juv chiffchaffs, linnets and yellowhammers. Family group of goldfinches numbering up to 15. 1 common buzzard, noisy flock of carrion crows and jackdaws (approx 25). 1 lesser whitethroat and one poss juvenile. 1 green woodpecker being stalked by juvenile starling for at least 10 minutes before lost from sight. Never seen that before. 1 little owl calling from adjacent fields. (David Hayes)
  • 24th - South Norwood Country Park: Little Grebe + 4 young, Cormorant, Sparrowhawk, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Great Black-backed Gull (flyovers), Goldcrest, 45 Goldfinch, 3 Reed Bunting (JAH)
  • 24th - Sanderstead: at least 2 House Sparrows heard calling in neighbouring gardens in Briton Hill Road. First round here for a long time. (JB)

  • 22nd - South Norwood Country Park: Hobby chasing Swifts low over lake @ 8.50am (JAH)
  • 20th - South Norwood Lake: 09:00-10:45hrs, pair Mute Swan, pair Great Crested Grebe, c12 Tufted Duck, 1 Egyptian Goose, Black-headed Gull(over) 1 Nuthatch, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Pied Wagtail, c10 Ring-necked Parakeet, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, (John Watson & Gavin Hawgood)
  • 20th - Briton Hill Road: 6.45pm - mixed flock of about 50 birds in one tree included mainly Long-tailed, Blue and Great Tits (each with young) plus Nuthatch and Goldfinch. (JB)
  • 19th - Cullesden Road: 3am 2 Tawny Owl,(D.W.)
  • 19th - Millers Pond: one very odd looking Coot (much white in plumage, especially on the head). (JB)

  • 17th - South Norwood Country Park: 4 Pheasant, 2 Little Grebe + 4 young, Cormorant, Sparrowhawk, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Reed Bunting (JAH)
  • 17th - Riddlesdown: Meadow Pipit with food, at least 5 Skylarks singing, Bullfinches in three separate locations, Sparrowhawk over quarry. (JB)

  • 10th - Lloyd Park: a Reed Warbler in nettle and bramble thicket around the tiny pond - only my second record of the species in LP this century! (John Parish)

  • 10th -Norbury: approx 9.15pm - 56 carrion crows passing in 6 minutes, returning to roost in Biggin Wood. (SEC)

  • 2nd - Farthing Downs: 2 buzzards overhead. A loose flock of 23 mistle thrushes passing through! Up to 20 jackdaws also overhead. (David Hayes)
