Going south to Jordan would be too obvious, you think. The soldiers would surely concentrate their search in that direction. You decide that heading west towards Israel is a wiser choice. The distance is longer, but the soldiers won't think you're going that way.
You make your way westward through the dense brush, trying to be both quick and quiet. Periodically, you pause to try to detect any sounds of pursuit. But no one seems to be chasing you. You feel the hot sun beating down on your darkly tanned body. At least you never get sunburned. But it would be nice to have some water. And some food.
A few miles further on, you spot a small cluster of houses up ahead.
