You don't trust whoever's living in those houses. You feel that it's better to avoid contact and just get out of here as quickly as possible. You keep on a westward track.
The sun gets hotter. Your mouth feels very dry. You've walked about five miles from the last cluster of residences when up ahead, you see a lone house.
