SM:Stubbornly Refuse

From Create Your Own Story

You stubbornly refuse to get off the bus despite multiple chances but you like the idea of meeting your end this way. You lean back in your seat, kick your feet up onto the handicap seats just ahead of you and relax.

As your final few minutes tick away the driver of the bus rises from his seat, and looks over to you.

"End of the line, you'll have to get off," he says, closing the rear doors off bus once the last of the passengers have gotten off. The two of you are all that remain.

"Come on. Get off the bus," he says with a hint of annoyance in his face. You simply grin at him as the last ten seconds of your life counts down.

When that countdown hits zero, a bright flash suddenly comes forth from where the driver is standing. It forces you to close your eyes and shield your face with your arms. It takes several seconds for it to pass but once it does you lower your arms, open your eyes, and look around.

You appear to be sitting in a black abyss. There is nothing but darkness around you, you cannot even see what you are sitting on anymore.

"It takes much for someone like me to be at a loss for words," a voice speaks, coming from behind you. It is the same voice that you struck a deal with only an hour ago. You turn in your seat and find yourself looking at some kind of phantom.

A hooded black cloak floats in the darkness, a featureless white porcelain mask where you'd expect a face. It has no body or discernable form and through the eye sockets of the mask you see only black.

"But of all those with who I have made deals, you are the only one to simply sit and ride a vehicle to your doom. You disappoint me. I wished for a frantic struggle from you in the last few minutes as you try desperately to save your life."

"I can't say I'm sorry to disappoint you," you chime in.

"No matter. You are mine now, and there is nothing you can do that will take away the enjoyment you will offer me. I am here to collect and you have no choice but to come with me," the phantom continues as it turns and floats away. You rise to your feet, turn, and follow the phantom. Your legs move on their own and you find there is nothing you can do to stop them.

"You will wish you'd have at least done something," the voice says as the two of you walk through the black abyss. It fills the air with a cruel, haunting laugh and you get the strong feeling that even after you've paid your debt this phantom is not going to let you go.
