Have a nice father-daughter moment

From Create Your Own Story

"Look, Katie," you say, patting the spot next to you. She rolls her eyes, but sits next to you. "I agree with you. I think what Donald Trump is doing is racist and wrong. A huge part of me wants the US to win this war." These were dangerous words, words that could get you thrown in jail. They were also words your daughter was not expecting to hear.

"If that's how you feel," she replies, clearly surprised, "Then why do you help him?"

"Because we live in a very dangerous time," you reply frankly, "Americans are dying in droves. All I do, I do to protect my family. Texas is the safest place to be, and at Donald Trump's side is even safer. If I didn't help him, someone else would." You take Katie's hand in yours, and look her straight in the eyes. "I know what I do is horrible, but please realize I'm doing it for you and your siblings. I just want to protect you."

Nobody talks for a minute or two after that. You can see your daughter taking in this new information, trying to piece it together. Your about to leave when she pounces on you, holding you tight in a loving embrace.

"I'm sorry," she whimpers into your chest, tears welling in her eyes.

"It's okay," you say, pulling her closer, "I'm not mad. You stood up for what you believe in." You tilt her chin up, looking her in her tear-filled eyes. "I'm proud of you."

"Thanks Dad," she says, sniffling and hugging you closer. Minutes go by and she remains glued to you.

Do you pull away or let her keep hugging you?
