Focus on the voice and try to sense the mind behind it.

From Create Your Own Story

The room (you assume it's a room, anyway; what else could it be, really?) is nothing but darkness. There's no sound, save for the voice; no sight, nothing around you but cold, tasteless air. So be it. If five senses cannot tell you what you need to know, then the sixth one will.

You concentrate, forcing yourself to focus through the pain in your head (a headache that was rapidly turning into a migraine despite the lack of sound and sight) and began to seek out any other minds around you.

The pain increases for a few moments, then slowly subsides. You're able to hear thoughts, though from where and from who remains uncertain. The sudden outburst of such "noise" is quite a shock to your sensitive mind, and you're unable to filter out the thoughts.

"Oh, God, what if he's cheating on me--

"--should ask the boss for a raise; not like I don't deserve it--"

"Three officers dead, and she didn't even raise a finger. Jesus, what is she?"

Dozens more voices strike you, causing you to curl up in a fetal position, clutching your head weakly.

The voice chuckles again. "Mind that you don't go prying, dear. That isn't very polite, you know."

It was the voice. They were forcing the thoughts through to keep you from reading their mind.
