Downfall/Hotel 11

From Create Your Own Story

You enter the hotel. Julianne checks you in and collects the keys to your rooms on the top floor, at the end of the hallway. Both rooms are situated opposite. Kirsten asks Julianne to share one room with you; that leaves Will to share the room with your mum. Kirsten unlocks the door. There is a double bed, centered at the east wall, with nightstands on each side. There are windows to the south and west. The roof terrace to the west is accessible via glass sliding doors. Next to the entrance door stands a large wardrobe and a dresser with a large mirror. You open the terrace doors. Besides an ensemble of a table and four chairs, two sunbeds and a beach umbrella are situated on the open space. A privacy shield divides the terrace from the opposite side that belongs to your mother's room.

You go down to the dining hall to eat dinner. You help yourself from the buffet with local foods and exotic fruits. Mum and Will leave to turn in for the night, but Kirsten and you opt for a dessert. You let your sister choose your treats; she returns with apple strudel with vanilla ice on top. After the meal you head for the elevators. On your story, a maid with a service trolley waits for you to exit before she enters the elevator. You head towards your room, but Kirsten stops you from leaving.

"What?" you ask her, but she doesn't reply at first. She watches the old-fashioned display above the elevator doors - a half circle with roman numerals and a clock-hand showing on which story the cabin currently is. When the hand stops, Kirsten presses the call button. The other elevator arrives first and opens. Kirsten enters and signals you to follow her.

"What?" you repeat.

"We need more towels."

"What?"

Kirsten sighs. "If you say what another nine hundred ninety seven times, you'll have a kilowatt and wasted a lot of energy. Come on. Let's get some towels."

You enter the elevator and arrive on the sixth floor in time to see the maid disappear behind a corner. Your sister leers around the corner. "She went inside. Go, get some towels."

"If you want more towels, just call for some. At this level, towel supply is included."

"You can't always rely on others to fulfill your needs," Kirsten says.

"Your words make no sense!"

"They don't have to if you look like this." Kirsten points at herself.

You let out a sigh. "All right, let's get this over with."

"Wait, just a little..."

"What do you mean, wait? The longer I wait, the higher the danger the maid is going to catch me red-handed."

"Exactly." Kirsten's eyes gleam. "It will be much more exciting if you up the ante. Wait until I give you the go and see if you get our prize before she comes out of the room."

"Why don't you go get them yourselves?" you ask her. "Why shall I be the one who does the nicking?"

Wordless, Kirsten raises her left hand which is made into a fist. She opens the fist - inside are two shot glasses. There were no shot glasses at the buffet table, but you remember a small bar where guests could get alcoholic beverages from the bartender. "For our drinks from the plane." Kirsten winks at you.

Geez, if you aren't on your toes, Kirsten might get you in trouble. You find the idea of doing these dares far too incentive. Now, what's it gonna be?
