You inch closer, wondering if Aunt Matilda's guest bedroom is coated with lead paint. "Who's there?" You ask in a small voice, sure you are hallucinating.

From Create Your Own Story

"Please help me!" The light cries again. "There's no time! Do you have water? You must throw water on the spider!" You swing off your backpack and grab your bottle of water, wondering why you are following the directions of a talking, blinking light. You quickly unscrew the cap and douse the spider with water. Instantly you feel you've made a very serious mistake, and that the day would have been much better spent with Aunt Matilda's bridge club. The spider hisses and spits like water on a dying fire, and its body begins to glow and throb. It falls from the web like a stone and begins to grow, changing from the form of a spider into a shapeless, furry blob. A growing, glowing, pulsing blob. The light blinks furiously as you stare in frozen shock. "Help me quickly! Get me loose from here! Hurry!" Yet you are spellbound by the hideous thing before you. You tear your eyes away to the frantic light. You'll have to get around the thing in order to reach the web. You think of the pocketknife in your backpack and wonder if it'll do any good against this... whatever it is, and whether you even have time to reach it.
