Yuga Akiyama (born August 21, 1995) is a Japanese pop musician, actor and singer-songwriter. Akiyama was discovered in 2005 by Avex Group, officials came across his school talent quest performance and decided to sign him on. He was trained for a total of two years and made his debut at thirteen years of age with a debut extended play, the five-track "YA 1.0". The title track, which was heavily promoted was certified plantinum in Japan, establishing Akiyama as one of the youngest ever title holders and a popular idol figure among the young audience.
His first full-length album, "YA 2.0" was released in August 2009. It debuted at the number-one position on all major charts and was certified platinum once again. To follow up the release of his debut album, he had his first headlining tour, the Yuga Akiyama ~YA~ Tour which consisted of all the major cities in Japan and two day consecutive Tokyo Dome dates. It experienced a three-minute sold out popularity around the nation. Several other number-one singles were released over the next few years but Akiyama remained mostly musically inactive and failed to have any major activities or promotion for his works. His agency later announced that it was his personal decision to concentrate on school schedules for now and denied his inactivity as quiting the industry.
In 2013 after four years of absence Akiyama made his comeback with the release of his third studio album "YA 0.0".
