Early Life

She later adopted her current name when she found attending schools with her birth name to be 'confusing and misleading'. Both parents worked as active volunteer travel teachers and often circulate helping unpopulated towns in Tibet.

Slowly after her birth the family moved back to the home-city Guangzhou, China in order to offer her a proper education. When she reached eight years of age upon her father's decision they located to Rutog, a town and seat of Rutog County in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in order to fulfil full-time teaching endeavours. In an interview, she recalled the China National Highway 219 as her home, "That was the road we constantly travelled on. My parents would constantly moved from town to town in order to teach as many students as possible and offered them education education supplies." She named Pangong Tso, a lake where she visited on a weekly basis during the age of nine to twelve as her favorite place in the world.

When not volunteering the family lived in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, a hill station nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. Since then they have settled in Kashgar, an oasis county-level city and is the westernmost Chinese city, located near the border with Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
