"Pink Walls" (stylised as PINK Walls) is the second studio album and overall eighth release by Korean rapper singer-songwriter Jeanie, released on March 18, 2019 by Mnet Media and Clumsy Media, more than five years after the release of her first studio album Panacea (2014) and six years of her debut mini album Girlfriend (2013). The album incorporates hip hop, R&B, and pop styles and features a wide range of guest vocals from Genezo, DJ Sweet Sense, Gong Gil, Ophelia and idol rapper Zico from Block B.
The album is promoted with two singles, "Bittersweet Hallucinations" and "Yellow Hoodie" which were released as digital singles. Jeanie also supported the album with her second series of fan meeting, a consecutive five day special promotional event during that month. The album received universal critical acclaim, debuting at number one on all of the top five South Korean music charts. The album was Jeanie's second release to reach the top position in the country, and subsequently marked the largest opening week numbers of her career until Girlfriend Volume II (2019), released approximately 6 months later. It also appeared in several international album charts, including in Japan, Singapore, China, Italy, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Background
It was announced on December 15, 2015 that Jeanie was preparing for a comeback with a mini album, which would be released sometime in February, 2016 through exclusively through Mnet Media. However, on 3 January 2016 Jeanie revealed the album release will be delayed indefinitely due to her projects for other artists as a producer. She went on to produce tracks for artists including SEVENTEEN, Zico, WINNER and acted as the executive producer for five album releases during this period, including Jonghyun, WINNER and TVXQ!. In an eventual interview with i-D Korea released in April 2019, Jeanie described the five year self-enforced music release hiatus as a crucial period for her to refine her songwriting skills and further improve on the tracks she has already written fro the album, "People were all rushing for me to release the album as soon as possible because I was at the height of my popularity but it didn't feel right. I was sad, heartbroken, and my writing reflected this. My interest in my own work disappeared completely."
On November 22, 2018, Jeanie shared on her official website that she had finished her second full studio album. She later clarified by saying, "I didn't mean to make an album, and I don't know if it's done at all, but I just have a bunch of songs that I really like. I've been working a lot and have been creating and feeling inspired." Two weeks later, she confirmed that she has gone back to the studio and was still working on the album.
