Early Life
Nan An Wei was born August 18, 1996, in Yulin, Guangxi Province, China as An Wei to a middle class family. She is the eldest child to An Zhu, a newspaper editor and An Wen (nee Zhang), a local white collar worker. The family had later moved to Guangzhou and lived there for five years before ultimately migrating to Sydney, Australia in 2002.
Ever since an young age Nan was academically acclaimed and for her middle school, she was admitted into the selective talented Fortstreet High School as the top 2% student.
Career
2012-current: Audition and hardships
Despite being extremely academic Nan had a strong desire to pursue an acting or entertainment career, developed during her early teenage years after being introduced into various Korean films and dramas as well as the pop genre music. Through the persuasion of a friend she submitted an application forward in the hope of being able to participate in Clumsy Media's first global audition. She received an notice two weeks later being scheduled for November 11, 2012's audition at Strathfield, Sydney. Nan had passed the first screening but failed during the second round of the interview process. A month later she discovered another audition was available next year and signed on once again, she was accepted ultimately she had sent a video of herself dancing, singing and acting and fit for January 18, 2013's audition at the Hilton Hotel in Central Sydney.
Nan was able to pass the second audition until the last and final round which she was dismissed once again. Officials noted her potentials but it was not enough for her become an artist under the label, "She improved as each process progressed but we were unable to offer her a position." and was told to apply once again when she 'hits her peak'. A week later, Nan was notified by her school to be going on an overseas trip to Shanghai, China for a debate student program. Seein this chance she once again applied for audition in the Shanghai revenue and was accepted into November 20's try outs.
Determined for 'three times lucky', Nan began to practice scripts in her spare time and even took up additional Chinese classes to perfect her dialet. Eventually Nan passed the audition and even offered an immediate exclusive contract on the spot which she signed upon return to Australia with her parents. Seeing her potentials in China the company has since offered for her to undertake training of various areas in Guangzhou in order to practice her language skills. She ultimately graduated from the British International School of Guangzhou on a full scholarship.
