When new artist Ophelia's debut single Strawberry Fields Forever I was hesitant to give it a listen. She was no doubt one of the most looked forward to debuting artist this year and it was because her featured track with JayMi from last year in the album N015 Street titled Fate was a huge success. It was greatly put together and I was surprised to find out she was the one who is responsible for it. It did medicore idol singer JayMi a great chance to shine with her voice but instead I was left disappointed at what an amazing voice Ophelia has but she decided to keep it hidden.

That strong powerful voice was overshadowed and I wondered if it was because she did not have enough courage and experience to showcase it. If so, she was definitely not ready to debut as an artist and to be taken seriously. When her company <Clumsy Media> announced her as an idol, I was convined she wasn't capable of coming out yet. An idol can only go so far, and with her labelmate JayMi doing so well, as one of the best selling idol artist currently and the best selling female artist last year, it will be hard for her to make it far.

Then came her debut. Her single sold millions, and was a success across all charts - digitally and offline. Other critics praised and loved her and said she was a blooming new star. They said her voice was mature and unique, her lyrics were well written and it was a fabulous song she composed herself based off a real story. I was taken back at how good the public says she is. Everyone was addicted to her and wanted more but I was left scared to start listening to what she really sounds like. It's been a while since I've seen an all rounder experienced good artist and I simply couldn't afford to be left disappointed once again.

I didn't listen to her song despite how hyped it was in the country. Until she announced her mini album a month later and I was so drawn to it musically that I gave up. I was going to give this talented sixteen year old a go.

The result? I am more than impressed. In the end, I sighed and hoped it was a full album instead. Only two tracks she composed was included on it and it was an fabulous listen and I wished she included more of her original songs but her choice of picks in which songs to be included is fantastic. The producers she chosed to work together with and artists to collaborate is flawless, as she knows what her strengths and weakness are. Her music was honest and well told, it was based on her first love. I can see now, she deserve the title of the best new comer this year and for many years to come she will continue to make an impact as long as she wants to.

I await for her next release. As for now, it is full point. Well done.
