Career
2012-2014: Audition casting, debut and hiatus
Whilst in America for a family reunion in the early months of 2012, Emmett was approached by a street scout agent and after a series of auditions was cast in the fantasy-thriller film Maleficent, directed by Robert Stromberg, starring alongside Angelina Jolie. Filming began on June 18, 2012 in London and in order to participate, Emmett applied for a one-year academic leave. By the first week of October filming had concluded and Emmett returned to her studies.
On October 25, 2012 at the Clumsy Global Auditions 12'-13' at Lenkom Theatre, located in Moscow Emmett was formally signed to a management agency. She had impressed the judges with her natural acting instincts and was offered straight to an exclusive artist contract on the spot. The agency immediately relocated the actress to New York, United States so she could immediately start auditioning for other roles.
Emmett's agency confirmed in December 2013 that Emmett had been concentrating full-time on her studies for the past year and will continue until her graduation which will happen in the last months of 2014. In July, 2013 Emmett was cast in Rob Marshall's Into the Woods but did not take up the offer as she had reportedly wanted to finish her graduate course before actively pursuing an acting career. However, after a series of discussion with the production company on the duration of filming, Emmett joined the cast just in time to start filming which began in September and concluded on November 27.
On April 19, 2014 director Quentin Tarantino announced his decision to cast Emmett in his upcoming film The Hateful Eight. However, the initial plans fell through due to "commitments to her university education".
