Early life
Left was born in Shanghai, China and brought up in Beijing, with her twin brother, Wu Jin Xiao, and older brother Wu Kai; she would later write songs about both of her siblings. She grew up speaking Chinese as her first language but soon learnt English fluently. When she was ten the family moved to the capital instead for her parents believed it would benefit them in terms of education and school choices.
