Album Information
After the release of her first mini album "Girlfriend" she stated in an interview with ELLE Korea that production on her 'next work' has already begun, "We're already recording new materials" and "I'm trying really hard to come out with a time schedule that will allow [label-mate; singer-songwriter] Ophelia and I to collaborate" but did not give out an general estimate of when the release will be. She later attended label-mate musical actress Park Seul's first fan event where she performed various songs as well as quoted saying that there'll be a song that's based on the actress, showcasing their close friendship.
On June 5 in an editorial named Star Column with ELLE Korea she talked about working on the new album once again, "It's nowhere close to finishing. (laughs) I'm bit of a perfectionist" and concluded with she does not when it will be released but is 'aiming for the later months of 2013'. During these periods Jeanie collaborated Lee Hyo Ri and Kim Hyun Joong for their album releases, having written one track for both artists. On Decemeber 11 she revealed through her official fan cafe's message board that the release date for the album has been confirmed as 'early next year' and explained the album could've been released in Decemember but decides 'the festive season should be reserved for holiday theme releases' instead.
Songs
The album starts off with the introduction track "Genie" which is self-composed by Jeanie. It's based on how before debut her stage name was suppose to be Genie but upon much considerations she changed it her current name now. The song acts as an opening act for the album while the lyrics introduces herself. The second song "Gangnam Radar" was inspired from the negative comments received from the public after it was revealed Jeanie was born and grew up in the neighbourhood of Gangnam, the most expensive surburn area to live at in the city of Seoul. It's a fast tempo track and features label-artist male rapper Genezo with lyrics critising the harsh stereotypes based on the people who live in the district of Gangnam in Korea. "Bring Me Down", penned by Jeanie's mentor, rapper Mr. Kid which features Zion.T is described to work as an response to the criticism Jeanie received since her debut. The next track "Mi Amor" which has been released off the album as a digital single features label-mate male singer Gong Gil. It's a emotional ballad that talks about yearning for a lover's return from the perspectives of a male and female. The idea for "Dear Soul" came from Jeanie's good friend, label mate musical actress Park Seul.
Sixth track "Tyranny", produced by Jeanie is an instrunmental, "I created it based on how I felt the entertainment industry is; unfair and unjust" that acts as the opening for the second half of the album. "Panacea" which is also the same name as the album has also been penned by Jeanie, the song deals with the problem that there'll never be a perfect solution for every single problem and is deemed to be a continuation from the previous track. Described to be as one of the darkest songs on the album, "Cyntoia" is based on a real life story of a girl with the same name and features Zico from idol group Block B. "Lissome" a song which is guest vocaled and penned by label-mate and friend singer-songwriter Ophelia is the most critically acclaimed song from the album. The ending track "BRB" is a fast rap centred song with lyrics on telling the audience that the end of this album isn't good-bye.
